Fuel Cell Powered Forklifts Deliver Benefits Beyond "Green"

Fuel Cell powered fork lifts eliminate the pollution of internal combustion (IC) powered trucks and provide a compelling alternative to battery powered fork lifts from an economic perspective, eliminating the downtime associated with battery change out, and reducing the facilities and labor requirements associated with battery recharging. Eliminating the "battery room" increases the productive warehouse area. Refueling with hydrogen takes only a few moments whereas changing the battery pack takes substantially longer.

 

Powering forklifts with PEM fuel cells requires cost effective and convenient sources of hydrogen. Delivered, compressed hydrogen gas is not cost effective and a barrier to smaller material handling facilities which do not require and can not afford a cryogenic liquid hydrogen infrastructure.
